MUSIC EDUCATION FOR THE YOUTH
The doctors will see you now! You won’t see any lab coats when Music Director Morihiko Nakahara and emcee Joe “Mr. Knozit” Pinner (pictured right) dissect the distinct sections that make up a symphony orchestra: strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion, and then put them back together! Music from Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Carmen by Bizet, music from Harry Potter and the Dvorak New World Symphony and more highlight this 45-minute performance, which will also feature a surprise guest conductor: a student selected at random from the audience to conduct the orchestra through Sousa’s Washington Post March. Admission: $3.50 per person. Groups of 200+ are $3 per person. Geared toward students in grades K-6.
For more information about these educational opportunities, contact Audience Services Director Jason Rapp at 803.771.7937 or via e-mail.
